Bowen Pies are not in Wigan but they may as well be given the volume of Wigan Pies they send to shops and pubs in the area. They do a full range but their meat and potato is one of the finest pies you will try. The pastry consists of a sturdy, solid shortcrust which gives way to huge uncompromising slabs of golden spud concatenated with lots of flowing meat and juices. It hits the spot from the first bite with a hint of pepper but natural flavour pouring out too. It is an exceptional pie, we are truly spoilt around these parts.
